The zero pressure accumulator lets a load come to a stop at a selected point of the conveyor and remain there until sent on by an external signal. The length of a zero pressure area varies from 12 to 120 inches depending on the model and manufacturer. Many models have more than one station where the product can stop.

Accumulators with little backpressure have products run into each other and the first one holds the following ones in place. Most lineshaft conveyors will meet that requirement.
