Portable air cleaners come in two styles: source point cleaner and standard.
The air intakes in the standard design have one or two ports, to which hoses or ducts can be connected.
The units have a 1 to 5 hp suction fan with a filter system of 40 to 100 ft2. A common name is fume extractors because in most applications fume removal is more important than dust.
Since for most applications, these units are located close to the user, the noise level is important.
