Overhead stretch wrap machines, also known as straddle stretch wrappers, or rotary arm stretch wrappers, are designed for tall, and unstable loads that may topple if placed on a rotary table. Also, there is no load limit when placed on the floor. They are preferred in environments that require periodic wash downs.

The load is placed on the ground under the overhead structure. The film is attached to the load manually in semi automatic wrappers and it is attached automatically in the automatic machines. The units require safety guards around the perimeter. With some models, perimeter safety guards come with the machine.
