Industrial crane scales can be attached to the hook of a crane to measure the load that is being lifted. These units are compact in design, but their height should be considered.

All have large digital readouts and indicator lights for "low battery" plus other functions. Most units are operated by remote control.

Dynamometers serve the same purpose as Crane Scales, and can also be used to measure tension or pulling force in other applications. They are taller than Crane Scales, therefore their height must be considered for crane application.

Dynamometers are available with very high weight capacities. They should not be confused with dynamometers used for engine torque and automotive testing.
